The conflict among society and the individual is a theme pictured throughout Twains Huckleberry Finn. Huck has not been raised in accord together with the accepted techniques for civilization. This individual practically raises himself, depending on instinct to guide him through life. Because portrayed many times in the story, Huck chooses to follow his innate perception of correct, yet he does not realize that his personal instincts are more moral than those of world. Huck meets some men trying to find runaway slaves, and so this individual fabricates a tale about his father for the raft with smallpox. The boys fear getting this disease and instead of rescuing him, they give him money and advise him not to allow it to be known of his fathers sickness when in search of help. These men are not not wanting to hunt slaves, yet they will refuse to help a ill man. This is contrasted to Hucks sense of guilt felt pertaining to protecting Sean when he truly did a morally just action. Hucks acceptance of his appreciate for Sean is shown in part thirty-one. Huck writes a letter to Miss Watson to return Jim, yet he ends up tearing the letter and would like to free Jim.
