In 1943 Albert Tucker colored ‘Victory Girls’, a very strange, gruesome representation of contemporary society at that time. It had been a feature in a series referred to as Images Of recent Evil decorated in the space of 1943 – 1947.

‘Victory Girls’ is a great oil upon canvas artwork. The paint is used thick and in long cerebral vascular accidents, and is especially noticeable while flying and garments of the figures. Patches of paint has been used to identify the light reflections. The piece of art is of several figures, a pair of them are young women, 50 percent dressed and wearing candy striped skirts.

The girls are colored in such a way that their humanity is barely noticeable. Their curled, red, altered mouths soon became a typical ‘symbol’ pertaining to Tucker. This crescent designed mouth shortly became a picture that started to be a symbol for women that this individual used. These young girls happen to be being organised by two pig like men who also represented the American military. Behind them a little patch in the sky as well as the ground can be viewed in very dark, dreary colours.

The four figures take up the majority of the frame, with out other things can be really found. Most of the piece of art has very curved forms, apart from the ladies triangular lips and miscuglio on the ground. Apart from that most of the features of the clothes are very simple and curved.

Color has been utilized symbolically from this painting, while using blue, red and white of the girls dresses representing the American flag. Girls are the the majority of colourful in the painting, standing out from the others, which is incredibly drab and dull. The soldiers will be dressed in their very own dark olive green uniforms.

The downroad is made of the figures, and later a small portion in the background is seen. Part of the art work has been remaining unfinished, with the hands with the left jewellry, as you can see simply a pencil sketch with the hand is seen.

The feeling is very odd and kind of freaky. It can not a place or picture that you might really want to maintain, and the persons themselves look scary and dangerous. The grotesque military bring with them an expression that they have recently been drinking and taking advantage of the streets that they can be visiting.  The focal point will have to be the faces in the people plus the bright devoted US colored skirts. The bold colours stand out from the dark qualifications behind them. Along with this are the red mouths of the girls.

Tucker painted ‘Victory Girls’ being a representation of what he thought of the American military and the young ladies eager to step out and have fun with these people. He saw this being a great ‘moral decay’ because of all the sleazy things which were happening about him

“They came out of wartime Melbourne. I remember a paper story regarding girls within a back us highway, with some diggers, doing a strip-tease for them- great aged fun and games. This was area of the image stockpiled in my mind. “

US military were constantly on the roadways and in the pubs and hangouts of Melbourne throughout their war time break. They will used to intrude and anger the local Australians and Tucker watched this kind of happen and ended up producing many artworks based on how the society was changing intended for the a whole lot worse.

Tucker was influenced by the German Expressionism and Surrealism and he had used this kind of as motivation for his own performs. Victory Girls could be grouped under the two Instrumentalism (because of its reflection of society and people) and in addition Expressionism (the unique icons and way it was colored. )
