In “The Chrysanthemums, ” we find Elisa in a situation that is a lot like those in Cannery Line. Elisa has the capacity to escape her situation through her horticulture techniques although even that is shattered when ever she runs into the unfamiliar person. Elisa’s story is different from those in Cannery Line in that the girl sees the gravity of computer.
